From 9–12 February 2026, Saïka Elizabeth Foundation (SELF) marked Youth Week with impactful sensitization sessions in three secondary schools in Nkolmesseng: Sure Vision College, Golden Institute, and Fanion College.
The initiative focused on three critical areas affecting young people today:
Risky behaviour
Substance abuse
HIV prevention
Our initial target was to reach 400 students. By the end of the week, 543 students had participated — surpassing expectations and demonstrating the importance of such conversations.
Participation breakdown:
332 girls
211 boys
Beyond lectures and discussions, students were encouraged to creatively express what they had learned. Each session concluded with poetry presentations reflecting their understanding of responsible choices, health awareness, and self-respect. The most impactful poems were recognized and rewarded.
Youth Week 2026 was more than an awareness campaign. It was an investment in informed decision-making, confidence, and long-term wellbeing.
When young people are equipped with knowledge, they are empowered to protect their health and shape brighter futures.
