Report on the Donation of Library Books Received from Street Child to Cardinal
Tumi Catholic Comprehensive College (CATUCCCOL) Jakiri, Bui Division in the
North West Region of Cameroon by Saika Elisabeth Foundation (SELF)

On Tuesday 14th November, 2023, the Saika Elisabeth Foundation (SELF) donated a total of 188 text books to the Cardinal Tumi Catholic Comprehensive College in the locality of Jakiri in conformity with its education program. In addition to providing school fees and grade-appropriate school materials tochool children from families with limited financial resources especially families forcefully displaced or negatively affected in other ways by the ongoing armed conflict in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon, SELF is also committed to promoting reading as an important part of these school children's daily life.
It is against this background that SELF donated a total of 188 text books received form Street Child to the School Library Project of Cardinal Tumi Catholic Comprehensive College in the locality of Jakiri, Bui Division in the North West Region of Cameroon. The library books donated included a wide spectrum of genres like literature, science, ICT, engineering, pedagogy, self-help, grammar and art. According to the principal of the school, this donation was very timely as it came at a time when the school was trying “to build a culture of books and reading among its students.” He further stressed that these library books will go a long way to enable about 25 teachers and 240 students to acquire the required knowledge and skills to enhance the teaching and learning process. Beneficiary students also expressed their joy and considered the library books as a tool that will develop their academic and future career skills by:

▪ Promoting their practice of reading
▪ Boosting their concentration
▪ Providing them with additional support for their school subjects
▪ Expanding their horizon of general affairs and knowledge
▪ Enhancing their personality and skill development
▪ Helping their mental wellbeing
We wish to extend our gratitude to Street Child for being instrumental in helping us
grow our reach and impact as we work to deliver one of our education objectives to
improve the reading, writing, speaking and listening skills of those who need it most,
giving them the best possible chance of success in school, work and life.
