Today, the Saika-Elisabeth-Stiftung (SELF) commemorates World Humanitarian Day 2025, a day dedicated to honoring those who serve in humanitarian crises and to celebrating the global spirit of humanity. Under the theme "Humanity in Action," we reaffirm our foundational commitment to permanently improving the lives of the most vulnerable in Cameroon.

For years, the SELF Foundation has been on the frontlines, directly touching over 5,000 lives and indirectly impacting countless more through compassionate and dedicated action. Our work is driven by the conviction that humanitarian aid must empower individuals to help themselves, fostering self-initiative and creating sustainable solutions.

Highlights of Our Impact

  • The Reusable Sanitary Pads Project: This initiative has provided over 1,800 girls with eco-friendly pads, promoting dignity and reducing school absenteeism. It has also empowered more than 20 vulnerable women by training them in pad production and providing starter kits to support their economic independence.

  • Back to School with SELF Project: We have distributed school kits to children and families displaced by the crisis in the Northwest and Southwest regions, directly benefiting over 2,000 individuals. This project ensures that education, a key to success, remains accessible even in times of crisis.

  • The Garden of Hope Vocational Training Centre: Our first cohort of 20 internally displaced women and girls is currently undergoing vocational training in tailoring, catering, and hairdressing, equipping them with essential skills for a sustainable livelihood.

  • Women Empowerment Micro Loan Project: In the Nkolmesseng locality, we are empowering over 10 internally displaced women with micro-loans to start small businesses and achieve financial independence.

  • Child Protection Program: Through advocacy and support, we have safeguarded the rights of over 400 children from abuse, neglect, and exploitation, providing them with non-food items, education, vocational training, and psychosocial support.
